My First Blog
I'm new at this but I've been writing for many years so the writing part isn't new. Over the past few years I've written 22 books ranging over a large number of topics, but most are related to popular science. I recently wrote a book for the Smithsonian titled Science 101: Physics. It's one of my more colorful books. It has somewhere around 250 color photos in it; the only other book I have with color photos is one I wrote for kids titled" The Mystery of Gravity." I wrote one other kids book and self published it; actually I should say that my publishing company "Stardust Press" published it. I've now had two books published by Stardust Press. The most recent is one on health and fitness, topics I've always been interested in, and hope to write more about. In this blog I plan on writing about writing, publishing and selling books and about health and fitness. I taught a class on writing at ISU for several years; actually, it was at night school at ISU, but I guess it's all the same. I love writing ( I guess I would have to, after having written 22 books) and, as I mentioned, more recently I've been setting up my books on the computer and publishing them myself. And I have to admit I've discovered one thing: the writing and setting up of the book is the easy part. The hard part comes when they're finished and you have to sell them. I've tried all the usual methods and it seems that most of them are not too effective, and some of them can be rather costly. I plan on talking about some of them on this blog, and I hope I can save some people some grief and money. Well, that's it for now. We''ll have to see how this goes.
